‌We All Have A Role In Preventing Deadly Crashes On Our Roads

Whether you are a cyclist or a motorcycle rider, if you drive a car or an 18-wheeler, we all have a responsibility to each other to ensure that we are taking every safety precaution we can to avoid a Connecticut auto accident.

Each year fatalities occur within every category of persons using the road.  It is important to understand the problem so that we can all solve it.  The following breakdown is the number of fatalities that occurred on our roads in 2019 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA.)

These numbers are staggering and must change if we are to have safer roads for all who use them.  There are a number of things that make sense for all people who are using roads for transportation, no matter their mode of transportation, that can be done to help stem the rising tides of deaths.  We can all follow some of these simple safety steps.

  1. Never drive/walk/ride distracted.  Put your phone down and skip the cup of coffee on the way into work.  When traveling from one place to another your focus should be solely on the job at hand.
  2. Slow down.  Whether you’re in a car or riding a bike, taking it slow can be the best thing you can do to ensure your safety and the safety of others around you.
  3. Wear the appropriate protective gear.  If you’re on a bike, wear a helmet.  If you’re walking, wear reflective gear.  If you’re driving, wear a seatbelt.

Taking simple steps can make a huge difference in whether or not an accident becomes fatal.  Connecticut auto accidents will happen, but there is no reason they need to be fatal.

By always keeping safety in mind you can help stem the tide of rising deaths among multiple classes of travelers.  If you were injured in an accident involving a car or truck you may need an attorney to review your case.  Contact our office and one of our experienced attorneys will work to ensure your long-term interests are protected.
