Connecticut Medical Malpractice: 71% Reusable Scopes Test Positive

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 by | Posted In: Hospital Negligence, Medical Malpractice

In an age where hospitals are trying to cut costs, it is important for you and your loved ones to remain vigilant about your health. Certain procedures may have the ability to take advantage of reusable tools. You may be wary of this as a recent study found that 71% of scopes deemed safe for reuse were found to have bacteria on them. The tools studied here were often used in colonoscopies of kidney stone removals.

It was found that the infection control issues at several hospitals were inadequate. Forty nine percent of processed scopes were found to have moisture on them while 71% were found to have bacteria.

If you or a loved one was permanently injured as the result of a reusable scope, that may be hospital negligence and Connecticut medical malpractice. Contact our firm to discuss your options.
