May Is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month – Let’s RIDE!

There is nothing nicer than hopping on your motorcycle and hitting the open road.  The feeling of a long motorcycle ride is a one of a kind feeling and everyone should experience it in their lifetime.

Riding a motorcycle can be exhilarating, but it can also be dangerous.  Avoiding a Connecticut motorcycle accident will ensure that you are able to ride off into the sunset each and every day that you desire.

This month is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and in honor of this very important month we are reviewing some of the most important safety measures you can take to keep yourself safe and riding free all summer long.

  1. Get a tune-up.  The first and most important thing you can do before you hop on your bike and ride is to ensure that it is mechanically sound.  A motorcycle that functions properly is one that will keep you safe.
  2. Check your tires.  Bald tires are dangerous in a car, but on a motorcycle they can cause a tragedy.
  3. Wear a helmet.  While there is no helmet law in Connecticut for riders over 18 years of age, a helmet is one of the most important things you can do to keep yourself safe while riding your motorcycle.
  4. Wear appropriate clothing.  Leather jackets may not be comfortable in the heat of the summer, but they will keep you safe.  Long pants will also keep you safe as you ride.

There is very little that can take the fun out of riding your motorcycle, but getting into a Connecticut motorcycle accident will dampen your excitement very quickly.  During this Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month make sure you take some time to keep your bike tuned up and ride safe.

Happy riding!
