Knowing that you or a loved one need to go into the hospital for a medical procedure can produce a lot of uncertainty. The Connecticut Health Investigative Team prepared a database with inspection reports from state health officials revealing violations that compromise patient safety.

The database has inspection reports from 2016 through September 2018. Hospitals with several violations include Bridgeport Hospital, 26, and Hartford Hospital, 60, which included two deaths.

In one incident at Bridgeport Hospital, a surgeon ended up burning a patient by using an electrical surgery device along with a flammable surgical preparatory solution. The surgeon in this case was working on three surgeries at the same time, the report notes.

A piece of a broken needle was left inside a patient’s body during a surgery at Hartford Hospital.

The database includes information from 29 Connecticut hospitals. You can access the information here.
